Our family has been very dedicated to this cause for a number of years now.
Both my wife, Berta and son, Christopher have Type 1 Diabetes.
Berta having had Diabetes now for 33 years has been developing many of the complications which can make daily life exceedingly difficult.
Our hope is that through efforts like this and the support of friends, family and collegues a cure can be found so that Christopher may never know the complications that all diabetics face today.

An article in today’s news feeds brought to mind a very important issue… Should we abandon so called ‘Green’ technologies that, in reality are doing more harm to the environment or should we continue to do more harm than good?
On one hand we have the idea engines going, everyone trying to do what’s right for the future, for the planet and our communities.
On the other hand we have the reality that many of these ideas are, in the long run not beneficial. (more…)
Another year has past and it’s once again Father’s Day. I’m sitting here, thinking of all the things I’ve done with my Dad throughout my life, all the great memories and my thoughts turn to my own kids and of the things we’ve done, the memories created and that are yet to be.
I’ve been very lucky to have a Dad that taught me how to do things. My dad was never into the usual sports, he was more into boating, water skiing, camping, building, fixing things and making everything around him better. (more…)

Hello Everyone,
This really sounds like it could make the difference.
Now this makes more sense that just not buying gas on one day…cuz what we don’t buy that day we will buy the day before or the day after…
This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It’s worthy of our consideration.
Join the resistance! I hear we are going to hit close to $1.50 a litre by summer and it might possibly go higher! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

For the last 3 years our family has participated in the annual Walk for a Cure to raise money to help find a Cure for Juvenile Diabetes (Type 1 Diabetes).
As each year passes, Berta and Chris struggle to maintain the best control over their blood sugars that they can, and battle the complications and daily routines associated with this major killer.
As many of you know, this past year has been an eventful one. Berta continued to have several vitreous hemorrhages which eventually led to her being unable to see out of her left eye and requiring a vitrectomy.
Good news was that the surgery was a success and she has now regained sight in her left eye. Bad news is is that it’s not permanent, and she’s had to have laser surgery in her right eye now (more…)
Worried about the change in daylight savings and what it might do to your Windows PC? Basically… don’t worry about it!
