Scout Popcorn.. shameless promotions =o)

Hey All,

Sara, Christopher and I are all raising money for the 4th Georgetown Cub Pack (http://www.4thgeorgetown.ca). The funds raised go directly towards the kids outings, camps and help out with all their badges crests and crafts that they do on a weekly basis.

This year is extra special as we are attempting to raise additional funds to assist in paying for the first ever CCCJ’07 (http://cccj07.ca/). That’s the Central Canada Cub Jamboree celebrating 100 years of Scouting. Since this first ever camp includes Cubs from all over Ontario all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, and the camp is local (Acton) we hope to be able to raise (more…)

Apple Day

Woke earlier than normal for a Saturday, Sara, Chris and I headed out for Apple Day! We took two roots went out had some fun and raised some money for the 4th Georgetown Scout Group.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect, being that the last Apple Day I was a part of all we did was stand infront of a store, hand out apples and accost the local patrons for donations to support our group. The idea of going door to door was a bit different. (more…)

Scouts Canada

I started in the Scouting movement at age 5 with the 7th Oshawa Beavers at Athabasca Street Public School. After 3 years of ‘sharing, sharing, sharing’ I transferred to he 37th Oshawa Cubs down the street from our house at Grandview Public School.

After finishing Cubs one of my best friends (Jim) at the time was going into Scouts with the 12th Oshawa Scout Troop at Harmony United Church. I decided to join him and it was some of the best memories growing up I remember.

Jim’s Dad was one of the Scouters and our Skip was Scouter Don. During my 3 years in Scouts I did a lot of camping, learned a whole lot about (more…)
